Safety Playground Surface Finish

Safety playground surface finishes can come in different forms. The most well known play area safety area finish is known as wet pour or soft tarmac. This is a 2 part, recycled rubber safety floor, which is mixed with a polyurethane binder and trowelled into the desired play area. The soft tarmac is laid to specific depths, depending on the Critical Fall Height that has to be achieved for eg 1.75m CFH – 50mm wet pour depth. The EPDM rubber safety floor system has being designed to be used in play areas and play areas with children’s play equipment installed The springy safety floor can also be specified and designed with different graphics such as splashes or hopscotch. Wet pour is commonly installed in black, although it can be used with 12 different colours.

Wet pour damaged areas can also be repaired in small areas by using the wet pour repair kits, which can repair areas of up to 0.5m2 in one tub. Soft tarmac is laid over a choice of 3 different sub bases which are MOT Type 1 Stone, Tarmac & Concrete. Approximate costings of the Wet pour safety floor is dependent on the area size, dimensions, specification / specification of play equipment, location of the project and colour / depth of the material.
