Refurbishment old existing sand filled synthetic pitch to 3G/4G sports surfacing was asked to be carried out at deeside leisure centre. The project was a full refurbishment of the existing sand dressed synthetic turf, installation of 5m high rebound fencing to the perimeter of each individual pitch which incorporated rebound panels, 8no floodlighting columns and then installation of a new 60mm sand / rubber infilled 3G monofilament synthetic grass. The new facility is now able to be used both during the day and at night, which in itself has created extra revenue for the leisure centre.
Soft Surfaces takes a pro active responsible approach to its environment and an example of this is that the old synthetic turf which we removed was recycled to lessen the impact on the environment and landfill sites. The existing surface was in a derelict state and was unusable as it wasn’t safe for the public. The 6400m² pitch needed to be fully ripped out along with the old floodlights and fencing as all was in a poor condition. It was basically a full demolition project of an old astroturf sports surface upgrade.
The completed 3g sports grass pitch is now a new state of the art sports facility that not only has improved the leisure centres perspective on sport and play but is also a facility that is rented to create additional revenue which can be used during the day and also night.
