Multi Use Games Area AKA MUGA

For all those unaware of the term MUGA, it stands for multi-use games area. The title is exactly how it sounds where it is an area designed for multi-use sports. The multi-sports ball court is commonly installed within the UK in schools, nurseries, universities, colleges and leisure centres. It is an ideal opportunity to combine a selection of games within a limited space.

Something that is needed primarily to design a MUGA is to know what the primary sports are going to be because this will determine which artificial surface is best to suit the playing characteristics of the multi-sports. The most common activities played on the multi-use games areas are football, basketball, netball, hockey, tennis, rugby, athletics and 5-a-side small side football.

MUGAs are also commonly used for Athletics facilities due to their ability to allow a number of sports and activities on the same surface. Athletics activities that can be played on these surfaces include Athletics Track activities, Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump and more. You can choose the perfect design for your facility to ensure that the correct purpose is achieved whether this is for education, fitness or fun!
