A shockpad is a resilient layer introduced between the sub base and the playing surface. The shockpad is used to provide a degree of comfort to players, cushioning the impact on joints / muscles and generally improves the playing characteristics of the synthetic surface as well as prolonging the life of the carpet. There are two types of shockpads typically installed beneath synthetic surfacing, which are either a rubber shockpad or prefabricated shockpad. The rubber shockpad and prefabricated shockpad are detailed below :
Rubber Shockpad are constructed from 2-6mm SBR (Styrene Butadene Rubber) rubber crumb and can be either hand laid or machine laid depending on size and specification. Rubber Shockpad can be laid directly onto a dynamic sub base or preferably onto an engineered base. It is designed to assist the carpet backing of the synthetic turf from rucking.
Prefabricated shockpad are designed to assist with the prevention of rucking, creasing or movement in the final surface. Prefabricated shockpad are also commonly known as matchpad and the system depths can vary from 10mm-35mm depending on the bounce modifier test criteria.
Rebounce sports shockpad is an underlay foam shock pad for sports surfaces. Re-bounce shockpads give impact absorbing properties for player cushioning and ball rebound. It is a porous sports surfacing shockpad that is easy to install on site. Sports surface shock pads are generally tested to water permeability, vertical deformation, shock absorption, energy restitution and dimensional stability. The re-bounce sports surfaces shockpad passes all these and is accredited to FA, FIFA, FIH, RFU, GAA and IRB standards.
The artificial grass underlay re-bounce pad is mainly polyurethance flexible foam which is an excellent shock absorption for all sports including rugby league, rugby union, 5-a-side football, 7-a-side footy, full size football, futsal, hockey and gaelic football.
