Athletics & Long Jump Runways

Construction of Athletics tracks, long jump runways, triple jump runways, golf pathways and all aspects of synthetic athletics tracks will all be in the focus with the impending 2012 Olympics being hosted in England. To construct any of these need to be carried out by a specialist contractor to make sure the levels and drainage is all to meet accreditations. Below are descriptions of athletics tracks surfaces, long jump runway surfaces and triple jump surfaces and golf pathways surfacing :

Long Jump Run Up / Triple Jump Runway Surfaces

Long Jump Runway surfaces and triple jump run up surfaces are never more popular with schools and colleges. They are relatively easy to construct and can fit to suit most budgets.

The construction of the long jump run up / triple jump run up is an engineered sub base with a coloured polymeric surface which can have removable take off boards built in to the final construction. The landing pit has got to be filled with washed and rounded sand and to be filled within a retaining edge.

The benefits of the long jump run up surfaces / triple jump run up surfaces is that they are pretty much maintenance free.

Synthetic Athletic Tracks

There are 3 main types of surfaces to athletics tracks :

Olympic Track Surfaces System - A full EPDM rubber surface system to a depth of 13mm which is installed in multiple layers.

Sandwich Surfaces System - It is a 2 layer surface system constructed with an SBR base course and EPDM wearing course to a depth of 13mm (10mm + 3mm).

Spray Coat Surfaces System - It is a sprayed surface EPDM textured finish onto an SBR base course to a depth of 15mm (12mm + 3mm).

Athletics construction can include the following :

Long Jump Surfacing in a polymeric surface
Athletics track in a rubber surface with line marking
